LEXO LAB

Language-learning application: case study.

LEXO LAB in-app welcome animation - Japan.

From 2019 to mid-2022 I was creative Director of LEXO LAB, a company formed to create a web-based language learning application for young school-age children. A committed raft of local investors supported our development and growth from initial proposals through to a stable version launch.

I developed the brand identity, and designed the UI/UX and collaborated closely with our learning specialists to build an effective delivery system. An in-depth explanation of the pedagogy and structure of this learning system can be found here: The 10 Pillars Of Speech Aquisition.

The large amount of content for the app and related social media was implemented utilising a small team of freelance Indonesian and Malaysian artists, two of whom I had worked with in a studio in Kuala Lumpur.

Despite a sound pedagogy supporting the app’s success with students both at home and school environments in Indonesia and Japan, we were unable to source enough finance to develop LEXO LAB further. The app continues to be used as part of the curriculum in a group of schools in Indonesia, and may yet gain a further reach as data continues to prove it’s worth.
